St. Andrews & Bethesda Home Health Supports 2008 Scouting For Food Drive

Nearly 30 boxes full of canned and non-perishable foods will be donated to the needy this holiday season, thanks to the efforts of the staff of St. Andrews & Bethesda Home Health, Cub Scout Pack 726 and some very generous residents at area Independent Senior Living communities.

The drive was part of the annual “Scouting for Food” drive coordinated by the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Boxes were distributed by the staff of St. Andrews & Bethesda Home Health to the senior living communities that are part of either Bethesda Health Group or St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors, with the hope that some food would be donated as part of the drive.

That’s when the residents of the communities exceeded expectations, filling the boxes until a total of 28 were ready for pick-up by the Home Health staff and members of the Cub Scout pack. The breakdown of participation from each community is as follows:

Bethesda Gardens (2)
Bethesda Orchard (6)
Bethesda Terrace (1)
Cape Albeon (2)
Naomi House (located on The Sarah Community) (12)
The Willow at Brooking Park (1)
Tower Grove Manor (4)

“The residents in these communities often are not given the opportunity to participate in this annual food drive, but they have left no doubt that they really can come through with support!” said Mick Crawford, Executive Director of St. Andrews & Bethesda Home Health.

A special thank you goes out to all those persons who helped in organizing this effort, as well as those individuals who participated in the food drive.
